Whether VR glasses or anaglyph glasses. The principle behind is the same and is not new. Two images of the same object are taken from a slightly different angle and constitute the basis for a three-dimensional view effect. The goal is to imitate the distance between human eyes. While viewing, these two images have to be displayed separately for each eye either side-by-side in a box or combined into one image with color separation. The spatial representation is then "summed up" in the brain. The combining method with color separation requires only cheap glasses with color filters in them. In this experiment, 72 double images of an object were taken from around the object in equal steps. In the article, the result presents in the AJAX-ZOOM 360-degree player.
The resolution of the 360-degree images is 6.000 x 6.000 pixels. Below the player, you can switch between the anaglyph view and the standard view. To view the anaglyphic VR view, you will need red-cyan anaglyph glasses. The likelihood is high that you or your customers have such glasses in the household. For example, you can often find cardboard made glasses in children's books. Framed glasses can be obtained, e.g. on eBay starting from one euro including shipping. No other requirements. You can enjoy the view in full screen on your PC monitor, tablet or 65" TV.
Unfortunately, the eyes need some time to get used to the filters. It is recommended to turn the 360 degree view so that the Aha! moment occurs faster. Fans of VR will be thrilled, everyone else can marvel at the alternative view without glasses. The non-anaglyphic 360-degree view is merely the shots from either the left or the right camera. When shooting, the cameras must be placed side by side and aligned with the same centering point. Anaglyphic images can be then easily created with freely available software.
